National-Invitational AAU Team Coaches

Coach Brian Tobin10th and 9th National AAU-team           

Coach Tobin currently as the High School AAU and College Recruitement Director for Mass Elite AAU Basketball. Additionally he currently serves as Assistant Coach at Beaver Country Day Prep School in Chestnut Hill. Coach Tobin has previously served an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Wheelock College and the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Malden Catholic High School. Coach Tobin played D3 basketball at Framingham State, and then began his coaching career at Malden Catholic where he served as a varsity assistant for 3 years. Coach Tobin had previously coached for a number of local AAU programs over the last couple of years, in the 16U and 17U age brackets for some of New England’s top programs. Coach Tobin previously played AAU basketball for national powerhouse BABC.

Coach Dave Latimer8th Grade National AAU-team

Coach Latimer currently serves as the Associate Program Director for Mass Elite AAU Basketball. Additionally he serves as the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at the Pingree School in Hamilton. Additionally Coach Latimer also serves as the Director and News Editor for the NERR’s (New England Recruitingf Report) Junior Elite Division. Coach Latimer played Varsity Basketball at Maryland powerhouse Allegany High School. The Allegany Campers went an unbelievable 71-8 during his high school playing career and advanced to the Maryland Class A State Championship all three years. David averaged 14 points a game while dishing out 5 assits and also 5 rebounds a game, while shooting 44% from 3 point range. David then attended D1 West Virginia University. After his freshman year he transferred to Allegany College of Maryland, where his teams were annually ranked in the National Top 25 and finshed his basketball career.

Coach Eric Polli – 7th Grade National AAU-team

Coach Coach Polli currently serves as the Founder and Executive Director for ELITE Basketball, one of New England’s largest youth basketball AAU and team training organizations. In his role, Coach Polli oversees the day to day operations of ELITE Basketball’s AAU team programs and player development services. Coach Polli each Winter season serves as a coach and instructor with the Peabody town travel program. He previously has worked as an instructor and scout to Reading High School Boys Basketball program for the 2009-2010 season and also coached 7th-8th grade town travel teams for Reading’s Travel Basketball Division. Coach Polli graduated from Merrimack College with a bachelors degree in political science and a concentration in sports management.

Coach Gus Dettorre – 6th Grade National AAU-team

Coach Coach Dettorre is a teacher at Wakefield High School where he coaches Varsity Football and Freshmen Baseball. He has been involved with the Wakefield Youth Basketball program in many capacities for the past 20 years and is currently in his 9th year at a coach in the travel program. His teams have been very successful winning numerous tournaments such as Bruce Blood, Billerica Shamrock, Woburn Christmas and the Burlington Invitational. He was a past coach at Middlesex Magic and last year coached the Mass Elite 6th grade Regional Team that was very competitive all year, and finished the spring winning the MB Nation tournament at Old Orchard Beach. Coach Dettorre is married and has 4 sons who have played at the travel, AAU and High School level.

Coach Mike Kane – 5th Grade National AAU-team

Coach Kane currently serves as the Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Bishop Fenwick School in Peabody, where he has served as Head Coach for the past 4 seasons. Coach Kane previously served as the Assistant Varsity Coach at Bishop Fenwick since 2000. Coach Kane previously played high school basketball for Bishop Fenwick where he was Team-MVP for the Class of 1995. Coach Kane played college basketball for Salve Regina for four seasons, earning a spot on the CCC All-Conference team and also the recipient of the “Team MVP” for the Class of 1999.

Coach Tim Griffin – 4th Grade National AAU-team

Coach Coach Griffin currently serves as the Director of Coaching and Skill Enhancement for Mass Elite AAU Basketball. In his role Coach Griffin oversees all coaches training and also oversees workshops for new/associate coaches that are new to the AAU program. Coach Griffin previously played four years of college basketball and now serves as the Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Waldorf Prep School located in Belmont.
