Tryout sessions for our High School AAU teams – these including: National, Regional and Local teams are well underway! High School teams will be operated out of Lexington/Reading, Peabody/Danvers and Tewksbury/Andover. Our program includes 7-8 weekend tournaments, college exposure services, weekday practice and skills/drills sessions and much more!

Mass Elite Basketball will be well-represented at the annual Hoop Rootz Blue Chips Showcase this February at the BOSTON KROC CENTER located on Dudley Avenue. In total 10+ players from our National-Select grade 7 and grade 8 teams were invited to participate in this high-level middle school showcase event.

Players selected for participation include – 7th Graders: Alex Frawley (Billerica), Michael Demartinis (Burlington), Ryan Veguilla (Middleton), Cooper Penniman (Lexington), D.J. Frechette (Nashua NH), Calvin Whipple (Leominster), Noah Gray (Gardner). 8th graders : Tucker Impemba (Burlington), Brendan Sullivan (Lynnfield), Ryan Foley (Amesbury), Shane Dawson (Groton), Nino Pingaro (Middleton).

The event will be held on February 25th from 1pm-5pm at the KROC CENTER in Boston. Players will participate in skills sessions, round-robin games and championship games. Please check back later this month for highlights from the talented middle school players in the ELITE Basketball family.

     Coach Preziosa Power Dribble  Feb.Vacation Day Camp  for grades 4-8

                      *SOLD OUT*- Feb 20th-23rd @ Danvers Indoor Sports

Coach John Preziosa (“Coach PREZ”) from Salem State University and Wheelock College will be offering a POWER DRIBBLE CAMP during February Vacation at the brand new Danvers Indoor Sports Complex! The camp will operate from February 20th-23rd from 9:30am-2:30pm for players in grades 4-8. The week-long camp will include extensive work on Dribbling, Passing and Footwork. The camp will also include gear-contests, competitive games, t-shirt giveaways, awards and daily lectures from Coach Preziosa on a variety of important topics that will apply to all student-athletes. Sessions will be offered per-week and per-day, special rates applying to participants in ELITE Basketball’s Spring AAU programs.

Former ABA player and Salem State University standout, Eric Downie will be serving as the Co-Instructor of the four day camp session. Coach Downie and Coach Preziosa have a long history together, Coach Preziosa serving as his basketball coach in college at both Bunker Hill and Salem State. Coach Downie currently runs his own basketball training company located out of Brighton MA.

Feb. Vacation Camp Gets Underway

Elite Basketball’s annual  Feb. Vacation Camp at Danvers Indoor Sports got underway this week. In total 60+ players attended on the first day making us the most popular Feb. Vacation Camp in Eastern Massachusetts. Check back throughout the week for photos and updates of our players progress at camp! Some initial photos of the first day of camop have been posted below.

Spring AAU Team Orientation Sessions @ DISC

 Orientation sessions for our middle school teams began this weekend at the Danvers Indoor Sports Complex for selected regional/local teams.  Check out some of the photo’s below of our initial middle school team orientation sessions held on Feb 19th! Teams met their coaches, worked out with our Elementary/Middle School Director – Coach Ron Sanders and also attended a training session with our new athletic training partners at IMPACT Athletics!

ELITE BASKETBALL WELCOMS NEW COACHES!

We are pleased to announce the additions of coaches Phil Alibrandi, Tim Pernini, Jesse Inglis, Tom Pappas, Chuck Topel,  Andrew Oak, Mark Melanson, Craig Cooper and Eric Perkins to our basketball community for the upcoming Spring AAU Basketball season!

TRAINING MEMBERSHIPS (Skills/Drills) NOW AVAILABLE

ELITE Basketball is announcing new Spring Training player development programs for players looking to keep their skills sharp during the Spring season! If you cannot committ to a full-season of Spring AAU then we strongly consider you to join our brand new Training Academy.

Sessions will begin on March 19th and will be held at the Danvers Indoor Sports Complex, Higgins School in Peabody, Barrows School in Reading and also at our newest site Lexington Christian Academy. Group training runs from 03/19-05/28 @ DISC (Danvers Indoor Sports), Higgins School in Peabody and Lexington Christian Academy.

Sessions will be held at the following nights/locations and times beginning on March 19th. 

 Tuesday’s @ Essex Aggie in Danvers                                                                                                                                                   4th-6th grade @ 5:30pm and 7th-8th grade @ 6:45pm

Wednesdays @ Higgins School in Peabody                                                                                                                                       4th-6th grade @ 5:30pm and 7th-8th grade @ 6:45pm

Players may attend “Unlimited Sessions” per week for only $150 for the entire Spring season! Basic memberships consisting of 1 workout session per week are available for $100. Participants will also recieve a brand new “The Academy” t-shirt that they can wear to all training sessions. Skills/Drills sessions will include basketball pertaining workouts – including offensive attack moves, highly intensified dribbling workouts, passing drills and much more! ELITE Basketball will be partnering with FEED THE POST  beginning this Spring season to offer optional elective “big man” training courses. Opeated by coaches Dan Rasanen and Jeff Starratt, FEED THE POST offers high quality instructional player development programs aimed at improving players “low post” skills. Programming will be operated out of the Danvers Indoor Sports Complex beginning in March! FEED THE POST has operated training programs for Bentley College, St. Michaels College, Nichols College and many high schools from the Merrimack Valley and Middlesex leagues.

                       7th Graders Receive Recognition from Hoop Dreams Magazine  

Hoop Dreams Magazine recently completed their rankings of the top 7th grade players in New England – among the players selected were Michael Demartinis (Burlington), Ryan Veguilla (Middleton) and Matt D’Amato (Peabody) each of which chosen in the top 25 players within their respective age group.  ELITE Basketball is very proud of Matt, Michael and Ryan for their hard work on the courts!

        ELITE Youngsters Crowned Champions at MLK NH Spartans Tournament  

The Mass Elite 3rd/4th grade winter travel team coached by Coach Polli and Coach Leavitt went an undefeated 3-0 playing against some of the most competitive teams in the Granite State. The boys have had a fantastic Winter season onlyh losing 1 game so far. More importantly though all players are having a lot of fun and are continually improving their skills. Players on our “team of champions” include – Jake Barisino (Westford), Jeff Goguen (Billerica), Alex “Gonzo” Gonzalez (Peabody), Bobby Sweet (Acton), Christian Turner (Wakefield),  Harrison Latimer (Topsfield), Vinny LoGuidice (Billerica), Michael O’Keefe (Wakefield) and Randy Leavitt (Woburn).

          Demartinis, Foutter and Penniman Face-Off in Middlesex League Battle!

Some of the top young prospects from our 7th grade team, Michael Demartinis (Burlington), Matt Foutter (Lexington) and Cooper Penniman (Lexington) recently faced off against each other in a tight Middlesex League game. Penniman scored 24 points and played outstanding defense while Demartinis provided a strong presence in the middle. Burlington ended up winning by a small margin of 49-47. Andre Braga (Winchester) and Ryan Veguilla (Middleton) who are pictured above, attended the game to cheer on their teammates!

                     Whipple Goes “SKY HIGH” at the TD Banknorth Boston Garden

Calvin Whipple from our 13U National team recently got the opportunity to take the jump ball at the TD Banknorth Boston Garden when his local travel team got invited to play at half-time. Calvin (pictured-above) easily won the tip-off with thousands of fans in attendance. Congratulations to Calvin for getting this very special opportunity.

                                  Coach Dettorre’s Wakefield Team Wins Tourney!

Congratulations to the 7th grade Wakefield team (consistong of 11 Mass Elite players) for winning the Woburn Holiday Basketball tournament held over Christmas break. The team did very well, facing some very stiff competition. The highlight though of the week was a 1 point victory over a very tough Winchester team. Good work boys!

Current 8^th grader Nino Pingaro (Middleton) is only one of many players in our middle school program enjoying big seasons for their town travel teams thus far this winter! Players and families have reported a lot of progress in the development of their skills on the court and also in their overall measure of their confidence when on the court.

Cross Meehan (Class of 2017) is enjoying a very good season playing for his Wakefield 7^th grade travel team. Recently Cross expressed his pleasure with his experience playing for the Mass Elite Basketball program. To read the full story (in Cross’s words) then please Click Here.

*NERR (New England Recruiting Report) recently had the following positive things to say about Freddi Shove (St. Johns-Danvers) and his continued strong play for The Eagles – “Shove is that glue guy that every coach wishes he had. Shove does a lot of the dirty work for a St. John’s Prep team that will certainly be expected to make a run in the Division 1 North tournament this season. He is a fearless aggressor on both ends of the floor who will never quit on a play and uses his long arms and deceptive bounce to often come out of nowhere to sky for rebounds. He has plenty of confidence in his three-point shot, especially from the corner, and has shown a love for driving to the rim and finishing with contact. Like Robinson, Shove also pulled down 15 rebounds, and if this trio can continue to rebound and play defense the way they did tonight, they could be in for quite a run once tournament time nears.”

                   CLASS OF 2012 – College Committement News

For starters, Pat Burns (Lexington HS) will make a verbal committment to attend popular basketball school New York University. Pat last season was one of the most productive players in our high school program, helping to lead his team to a State Championship and a strong bid at the AAU National Tournament in Orlando, Florida. We will be watching Pat’s progress at NYU closely, both on the courts and more importantly in the classroom.

Eric Green (pictured above) will be playing ball next year at Holy Cross College. A 6″5 player, Green has a ton of long term upside and already is a “Division 1 Ready” perimeter defender. More on Eric Green and his college choice can be seen here.
