Hoop Rootz “Closes Books” on 2017 Class, Naming 6 of our Student/Athletes for All-State Teams in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
Hoop Rootz over recent weeks has “closed the books” on the Class of 2017, as the members of this talented class will now be entering HS beginning this week and next. They also have named “ALL STATE TEAMS” for Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island – all featuring 6 student/athletes from Mass Elite’s outstanding Class of 2017, 2 of which were named “Starters” and 4 others being named “Reserves”. Since the 2011 Spring season, the Class of 2017 has earned three National Tournament Bids, Won a Massachusetts State Championship and have attended National Tournaments in Virginia, Tennessee and this past Summer at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando Florida!
ALL-MASSACHUSETTS TEAM Noah Gray – (Starter) Leominster HS Every squad needs a work-horse with intangibles in the front-court and when you combine his skills and tenacity with his still-growing 6’4″ strong-bodied frame, Gray, who also is standout on the gridiron, has the potential to play this role at a high-level as he enters his freshman year.
Mike Demartinis – (Reserve/Combo Player) – Burlington HS After a grammar/middle-school career playing more of a point-forward role on the floor, DeMartinis has now made the full-transition to the back-court as his freshman year at Burlington HS gets set to begin.
Alex Frawley – (Reserve/Combo Player) – Billerica HS Combines a smooth long-range stroke, with which he can be deadly, with the ability to use the dribble drive to create offense for his squad. Has a good feel for the game and should make an impact for the Billerica HS Varsity from the get-go.
Ryan Veguilla – (Reserve/Scoring Guard) – MASCO HS Southpaw guard has had a productive 2013 scoring the ball from the perimter and off the slash while he has also showed the ability to step over and run the show from the point, which will likely make him an immediate contributor next season at varsity level.
ALL-NEW HAMPSHIRE/RHODE ISLAND TEAMS DJ Frechette – (Reserve/Scoring Guard) – Nashua HS Can set up his teammates off the dribble and handle against pressure while also providing a long-range scoring threat and the ability to score it at the rack.
Cole Swider (Starter/Guard) – Portsmouth HS Skilled wing with good-size, a smooth long-range stroke, and a nice feel for the game. High-ceiling potential when you combine his skill-level with the genetic probability that he has plenty of growing left to do.
